Immune system supporting reflexology
To develop my skills and enhance my understanding of the immune system (over and underactive), long COVID and how reflexology may support the physical and emotional wellbeing of those living with these conditions, I undertook a workshop provided by renowned Reflexologist David Wayte, in conjunction with the Association of Reflexologists.
Reflexologists are certainly not doctors nor do we claim to treat specific conditions, rather, we treat the individual as a whole. However, we can as holistic therapists help our clients with reducing stress, boosting immunity with the aim of bringing about a positive change to the clients wellbeing. |
Example of how a treatment can be tailored to support a client suffering with symptoms of profound fatigue due to long COVID:
- stimulating reflexes associated with O2 intake and absorption, including heart, lungs and trachea
- working the diaphragm and intercostal muscle reflexes. These areas of the body are essential in effective respiration
- reflexes related to the immune response and mucous production, including the lymphatics, thymus and spleen
- hormonal reflexes including thyroid, adrenals and liver
- brain and nerve route reflexes associates with the above organs/areas
