Structural Reflexology

Structural reflexology integrates foot reflexology with anatomy, physiology and movement and massage of the foot and lower leg, in the aim of releasing stress and congestion in the entire body. Structural Reflexology was devised by Geraldine Villeneuve, who has found that it:
Picture
  • improves foot joint function
  • improves weight bearing and balance
  • improves blood supply and nerve function to the feet and the body
  • provides relief of compensation in the feet and the body
  • provides relief from joint tension
  • increases strength and vitality in the feet and the body

The principle underpinning this technique is that each individuals' foot alignment and function not only impacts their feet or lower limbs but can also change how the rest of their body behaves. For example, the upper body may suffer and present pain because of the compensation needed to move the body with feet that are not articulating as they should. The goal of structural reflexology is to bring the feet back to a stage that is comfortable and functional, thus relieving symptoms that have developed in other parts of the body due to compensation.

At Sole Therapy Reflexology, this technique can be provided as a full treatment, an extended 90 min session, or aspects of it can be combined into a session, dependent upon the clients needs.
